truexxfeelings:

All this CFA nonsense is making me sick. I am continuously astounded by the hatred, ignorance, and bigotry that people possess. The internet makes all of this abundantly more, and I just want to scream.

They’re not just sticking to their beliefs- they are actively STRIPPING me of mine. I don’t care if the owner had just said “yeah i don’t support gays/i believe in Man+Woman marriage”. That’s freedom of speech, which I support. But he didn’t just say that- not in the least. He’s donating millions of dollars to aid in efforts that are hurting and killing LGBT people. The funding of Exodus International and other hate groups is what really gets to me. HUNDREDS of confessions from people who have gone through the EI programs tell a story of hate, fear, depression, and suicidal tendencies. People have KILLED themselves because of what this *loving* program is teaching. Anti-gay/conversion/reparative therapy has been denounced so many times and even discounted by the APA (American Psychological Association) as flawed and wrong, and yet if it’s done in the name of christ (which it often is), it’s okay? I don’t think so.

As a person who survived 8 months of conversion therapy despite severe suicidal thoughts and depression as well as a general self-loathing and poor self esteem, I have a lot of feelings about this issue. Anyone who knowingly supports CFA while saying they are an LGBT ally or supporter sickens me. I have been actively sick the entire time this conflict has been going on- and NO it’s not as recent as people think. These people are using a tactic proven to not work and they are blind to the effects- people are permanently damaged from this therapy and yet no one gives a damn. People are blindly eating fried chicken and trying to tell gays to “come to the light” or “come to jesus” are so misinformed and so unaware about the real issues at hand. I’ll tell you one thing, no one will listen to you and decide to come to church with you while you’re shoving a hate filled sandwich in your mouth.

And that’s not to mention the Ugandan Kill the Gays Bill, the Family Research Council, and the hate groups that we are unaware of CFA supporting. http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/CFAUgandaLarge1.jpg

For me personally, I won’t abide people in my life who feel that my wife and I do not deserve equal rights. No one gets to make me feel like a second class citizen. And that’s exactly what CFA supporters and those who refuse to stand up are doing.

This is not just about one man’s view on marriage. I wish people got that.
